Monday Mural: Oakland 2 Gaza

This mural is found on International Blvd around the corner from Solano Way.  As you no doubt have noted, many murals in Oakland have political themes.  Some might say that all street art is political.  What do you think?

Welcome to Monday Mural:  if you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme's for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  You decide what constitutes a mural.  Once you start looking, you find them everywhere.  Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters.  Looking forward your mural finds posted this week.  Google+ users, please configure your post so we all can leave a comment.  Thanks.  I'll be gone for a few weeks and won't be able to leave comments, but the Linky will go up (fingers crossed) every Sunday evening.  Cheerio.

  4. You do not have to agree with everything but you have to agree with freedom of speech, thoughts and also including messages in paint I think.

  5. Not always political - it can be funny, whimsical or just beautiful. But politics/sharing beliefs is certainly what seems to motivate many street artists

  6. I don't think murals are always politcal, but many of them have a message indeed as this one has too,

  8. I love political street art ODP, there are a few around Perth that I still have to find :) I like this one very much, sadly I think the words women and struggle still have a long way to go together..

  9. Interesting art! I think most of the murals here are not directly political. The one I posted today is more religion-oriented and quite a few here are celebrating the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. Some are advertising.

  10. This one stands out. I think in a city filled with politics like we have here, the street art tends to go in different directions.
