Hooper's was established in 1939 and sold by the family in 1990. For the next 20 years various groups owned this business with varied success until the doors finally closed for good in 2010. The retail shop was located in a pink Cape Cod house on Telegraph Avenue, the original Hooper home. Generations of school children visited the factory and got to take home free samples at the end of the tour. Along with Mother's Cookies and Granny Goose, those days are now only a memory. All that remains are the house and the original neon sign. For more "H" photos, visit

Isn't it sad that so many institutions have closed for good? A true Icon in our area gone for good.
ReplyDeleteOh, how sad that the business is now gone! I guess nothing stays the same forever though.
ReplyDeletewhat a shame it has gone - bet it tasted good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty house, it could have been made of candy. Yes I like to eat good candy.
ReplyDeleteOh. I was hoping Hooper was still making good chocolate candy... Great shot.
ReplyDeleteIt is time for someone to start the business up again. How would you like to operate a candy factory?
ReplyDeleteAaaawwwww :(
ReplyDeleteThe yummy chocolate days are gone!!
Great house and the Hooper's signboard.
My H post
I remember this place. I loved it. I use to go there before i went to school at emerson and caspers across the street used to be open. If I had the money I would buy the place or at least work for my idea or something like that.
