Monday Mural: portrait of a waif

I know I've seen those eyes somewhere before, but I can't remember where.  Done by Gloria Muriel, a San Diego based artist, who signs her pieces "glow."  The bird and the dense lines in the girl's hair remind me of Doty.  Maybe he's influenced her Oakland pieces.  Found near Lake Merritt at the start of East Oakland.

  1. There looks like a lot of spray paint to complete that. Well done.

I need to find some murals in my new city! But I hope you'll still enjoy some from Toronto. :)

  8. Certainly an interesting style. I must say I find the headdress, hair and bird more appealing than the face.
    Thanks for hosting!

  10. A clever mural. I like the eyes too. And the way the brickwork has been brought into the picture by decorating the bricks around the painting itself.
