The cupola of City Hall. Standing at the height of 320 feet, City Hall was the first high-rise government building in the United States.
At the time it was built in 1914, it was also the tallest building west of the Mississippi. The mayor, at the time of the building's inauguration, had recently been married, hence its nickname of the Wedding Cake.
