Last year I showed you this large mural
project under construction. Here are a couple of details from the mural. The project covers a freeway overpass and most of its support pillars in the Temescal-Telegraph neighborhood.
The dominant motif represents Temescal Creek which now flows underground in this neighborhood. The mural has been so successfully received by the community, that the colored lines representing the flowing water of the creek have now been adopted for the neighborhood banners on Telegraph Avenue.

For something that is so exposed to the elements, Carolyn, this mural is ageing extremely well. I wonder if 'they' update the colours every so often. I love that big bird. Is it a crane or a jabiru ... or something?

ReplyDeleteLove it, I am so amazed that cities are finally letting artist decorate underpasses et.al. Such a wonderful moment for drivers to use, such a fascinating canvas, and a great way to expose the arts to people in an unusual place. Anxious to see more.
