A new mural has appeared on the Haley Law Offices building in downtown. Created by the Manentes, a father and son team, this is the second in a series on homeless folks. Their previous work, which they painted over to create this one, was The Carpenter. I find their work to be incredibly sensitive and beautiful. It really makes you look into the eyes of people you might otherwise ignore. How I wish they could find more canvases in order to preserve each piece they create.

I like how the "lines of experience" add character to the piece.
ReplyDeleteThis and The Carpenter that I somehow missed, are wonderfully done.
ReplyDeleteGreat mural. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like the expression on the woman's face.
ReplyDeleteWonderful mural, truly a piece of art!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.
I have two for you today! :)
ReplyDeleteShe poses like many Asians. Hehehe.
I completely agree--this artist father and son team should preserve these wonderful works on canvas, too! I am so glad they are making these gorgeous murals of these sensitive subjects though!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was that it had a "gritty" yet somehow soft feel...knowing it's about the homeless explains that impression.
ReplyDeleteWell done. Your eyes are really drawn to her hand which shows signs of hard work.
ReplyDeleteI'd gladly let them paint on my buildings wall!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Thank you, Thank you for the explanation. I had seen the carpenter and thought it was just fabulous, and now I know the back story. Their work is really just gorgeous
ReplyDeleteThis is among the best I have seen. Someone in Oakland needs to find a way to encourage more of this fine quality kind of art.
ReplyDeletewell I have a mural posted today but double featured with a very non mural photo, which somehow seemed wrong. So I'll just enjoy yours and try and get my timing right
