While out and about I watched kids play at a playground in Chinatown. It wasn't until I really looked at the play structure that I realized it's design is based on a Chinese junk ship. Duh. Except for a day of rain on Tuesday, we've had mostly clear skies since Christmas. Linked to
Skywatch Friday.
The original play structure was built in 1969 as a project of the Wa Sung Community Service Club. That was "loved to death" and the current modern structure was built in 2003. http://www.wasungserviceclub.org/projects/junkboat/jb.html
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the best playgrounds I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteCool post!
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF to you!
It appears it was designed so that kids could not reach and climb the "sails" except for maybe the front one. I naturally would go for it...if I were a kid again.
ReplyDeleteWhat an outstanding playground! These days the playgrounds are so anonymous and boring that I can't imagine kids wanting to play on them. But, not this one. It is great.
ReplyDeleteCool shots. I'd play!
