This building, with its ornate pediments, graces 15th Street in downtown Oakland. Interestingly, I have not been able to discover what OTIG stands for. Some theorize that it was an insurance company, but there's no ready proof of that in Google Land. It is currently occupied by Lincoln University, a private college offering various degrees. Linked to
ABC Wednesday.
The colors show that it is not very old, perhaps something from the thirties.
ReplyDeleteIt was the Oakland Title Guaranty Company, built in 1921. Found a reference in an architecture book. See: http://oaklandwiki.org/Oakland_Title_Guaranty_Company_Building
