Last weekend was the dragon boat races on Lake Merritt. The winners of this competition are going to Ravenna, Italy for the international finals. I had no idea dragon boat racing was so popular here, let alone other places in the world. Linking to
Skywatch Friday. We start out with cloudy mornings, the sun finally burns through, and then the day is warm. Warm is good.
How cool!
ReplyDeleteLooks quite a spectacle.
ReplyDeleteFunny that it is taken such attention but indeed you see it now everywhere. Even here in the netherlands. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteMy BIL, was in that race. He is so happy! Great shot of the dragon boats.
ReplyDeleteSo man people in one boat! What a great capture!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about these. Next year hopefully I can catch them. That looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteAaaaah, I missed Oakland, grew up there...pretty cool they have the dragon races there...love the mural Mondays, enjoyed my visit!
ReplyDeleteI was unaware such events took place even on an international scale.
ReplyDeleteI've seen dragon boats a couple of times and was almost tempted to join when told they were recruiting. but then sanity prevailed, and I've stayed on shore.
ReplyDeleteNice image, Carolyn. There are dragon boat races in Hartford this weekend. You might see a pic or two on my blog next week.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! One of these years I'll make it out to see the dragon boat races here. My son competed in one with his company. They didn't win but he had a good time.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to compete in Italy!! Our dragon boat races didn't have that level of competition. In fact, several of the heats were rowed by survivors of cancer (mostly breast cancer) and their loved ones. The finals followed with racers competing for gold, silver and bronze. It was my first time attending, though our son competed a few years ago with his company.
