donuts to go

Doughnut Dolly is a shop in Temescal Alley specializing in freshly made donuts filled to order from a variety of offerings that change daily.  I chose their special "Naughty Cream," (a crème fraîche vanilla bean cream).  The line is usually out the door which is a little surprising given the donuts are $3 a pop.  Then again, they really do taste good.  Linked to City Daily Photo's monthly Theme Day.  Click here for more take-out offerings from around the world.

  1. I have never seen a $3 donut before. Really? Now I am wondering what three dollars of pastry tastes like.

  3. I think I would enjoy the smell more than the taste.

  4. Well 3$ for freshly filled isn't that much, is it compared to industrial prices and to what a simple croissant costs these days here? This is cruel. It's breakfast time here and I don't have any doughnuts!!!!!

  6. I'm not a fan of doughnuts (I've never understood the Krisy Kreme craze), but these sounds good. And I'd be willing to share one to give it a try! :)

  7. When something deserves it people are willing to pay for it. Not everybody on the selling side has this insight. Looks good to me.

  9. That looks pretty good. Not really a doughnut fun but am willing to try. I know I'd like the filling. MB

  13. What a cute name. I could happily take away one of those super doughnuts.

  14. Freshly made $3 donuts? That is a first. I don't think of Oakland as a place where people have budgets to accommodate $3 donuts.

  15. An interesting concept: "custom made doughnuts". Too bad I live far away ;-).

  18. Oh, I would opt for one very fabulous donut rather than a dozen "regular" ones. Crème fraîche vanilla bean cream? Definitely!
