Monday mural: black history month

February is Black History Month.  This mural is at the Ella Baker Center on 40th Street.  Huey Newton and the Black Panthers are featured in this one.

  4. You seem to have more murals in your city than anywhere. I don't know what grade I'd give this if I were an art teacher but it sure makes a strong point.

  5. That is quite a mural. I agree with the previous comment that Oakland seems to have an awful lot of murals. This one sure fits the Black History Month theme . . . it is all right here.

  7. A well-timed post and interesting historical mural. I must say though, that we have not yet "arrived" as a human race when we must be reminded of black history, women's history, etc distinctly from just history.
