This charming mural is in West Oakland off of Mandela Parkway. It was done by Bode who brought you the wonderful mermaid featured a long while ago. It is on a rather long fence, the other half of which will be featured next week.

Great mural ... I like how the colors complement each other, but also the way the flowing scarf mimics the girl's hair and draws the eye towards the Chinese characters.
ReplyDeleteLove this mural!
ReplyDeleteYou are right... it is a very charming mural. The colours are great and I also like how the artist has created a windy day scene.
ReplyDeleteThere seems a certain similar style to the many murals in Oakland...
ReplyDeleteI like the mural but are not overly fond in the use of purple in an urban environment. Its a kind of unnatural color in the most situations that clashes with the rest.
ReplyDeleteVery bright and colourful mural!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Japanese. Of course, I'm wondering what the characters mean.
ReplyDeleteShe is really cute!
ReplyDeleteAn elegant lady int his mural, rather matches the lilac house in the post previous to this. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.
She is lovely, it is a slight departure from his usual work, but gorgeous none-the-less
ReplyDeleteI like it. A bit unusual to see a scene like this in what appears to be a residential area.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic mural! «Louis» needs to cruise by and see this!
ReplyDeleteI like this style
ReplyDeleteLove your parasol lady! Thanks again for hosting this wonderful meme!
ReplyDeleteNice one - pretty in pink!
ReplyDeleteIt is a colorful one.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like she's Japanese, which I could relate because the green characters seems like in Japanese.
ReplyDeleteP.S. There is no LINKY, here's my link post.
Monday Mural
A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of talking to a couple of young muralists as they were working on a project. I thought it was pretty cool how they were high school art students who had won a commission to do the mural. What a fantastic boost to their training and careers!
