E is for estuary

Early evening along the estuary.  Runners, walkers, and bikers like to take the trail along the estuary as it runs through much of East Oakland.  This guy warned me not to snap the shutter yet because he didn't want to spoil my picture.  I thought, "Are you kidding, you make the picture."  Linked to ABC Wednesday.

  3. A scene is so much better with people in it. In this shot he put some energy into the photo.

  5. I just read a photo article the other day about the importance of having people in shots as they provide another point of interest, a sense of dimension or simply the human touch to your image. Looking at your photo here and imagine it without the biker and one can see the point in what the "pros" say.

  9. Makes for great evenings, and fabulous photos, but wish our weather wasn't so gorgeous. You are right - he makes the photo!

  10. A beautiful image you created. Shooting into the sun gave you that lovely sun flare, and letting the bicyclist enter the scene (in just the right spot!) makes the photo. I read about some photographers objecting to the term "take a picture," emphasizing that good images are made, not taken. Yours was made.
