The Oakland Amtrak station is located at one end of Jack London Square. From here you can catch a train to Sacramento and LA. This side of the Amtrak train station faces the tracks. The reflection includes the pedestrian bridge across the tracks. California is now piloting a TGV to LA via the Central Valley. Given the questionable financial projections for both funding and ridership, file this notion under wishful thinking. For more "A" photos, visit

Beautiful sky and building. We love rail travel (York-Paris in 5 hours) and have done a little along the Hudson Valley in NY state - a very pretty ride.
ReplyDeleteSuch a well-composed photograph, with the lines and curves and reflections and shadow, etc. AmTrak's East Coast lines from Boston to Washington get a lot of riders and still lose money. I would like to hope that this new line will work, but unfortunately I am too much of a realist.
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant image; I love the clean lines of it. x
ReplyDeletetook the train once from San Diego to Anaheim, but never got to the train stations in your area. nice.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like that antique projector, too.

This would make a nice entry in Weekend Reflections. You probably considered that, too, didn't you?!

Funny, we both have stations in recent posts. The thing that strikes me about your station is how CLEAN and shiny it is! Pity about the financial projections - it would be good to have more rail lines.
