This vintage neon sign continues to advertise an actual neighborhood shoe repair shop. Found on Park Blvd in the Glenview neighborhood. The skies are blue and clear despite this being the rainy season. For skies around the world, visit
Skywatch Friday.
Very nice photo.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes
Can they repair my wife's glass slipper?
ReplyDeleteShoe repair shops are becoming fewer and less to come by in this throw away age we now live in. I can remember back when having shoes resoled, or at least new heels put on a common thing to do.
ReplyDeleteLove those vintage signs!
ReplyDeleteGreat old sign and lovely half-timbered building. The only shoe repair I know of closed about six months ago. I will need to search out another. I have some shoes that are at least twenty years old but can last at least that much longer with periodic resoling and replacement of the inner linings. It is not that I am cheap. They are comfortable and look good and I don't like throwing out things that are still good.
ReplyDeleteThat little section of Park Blvd in Glenview is a real gem.
ReplyDeleteLovely shop! It looks English! But you are not in GB, are you?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit. Have a nice weekend.
Interesting shot. The neon shoe sign doesn't quite fit the English Tudor building style to my eye.
ReplyDeleteI really, REALLY like that sign! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of this nostalgic sign...
