L is for Love Locks at the Lake

The new pedestrian bridge at Lake Merritt was barely open before folks started attaching Love Locks.  Finally Oakland has something in common with Paris!  Linked to ABC Wednesday.

  1. Really! I am not a fan of these things. (Grinch!) They seem like an affectionate version of graffiti.

  3. You'll have to go back in a month and then a year to document the growth.

  4. Very cool! You know who started this and if city hall approves of it?

  7. Nice find. So far I have only seen photos of love locks. I think they are a good idea.

  13. I heard of that somewhere else, but I guess people like the idea. By the way, love your new header - is it a postcard?

  14. I saw a huge fence of Love Locks in Hollywood several months ago but I had no idea - until just now - that they were "Love Locks."Tthank you for the sociological information.

  15. Are those new? There was a growing group (including one my wife and I placed) that were cut away by the city.

  17. I've never seen this in the US. Since these locks represent romance, the initials on the red lock are quite ironic.

  18. I saw these on a walkway bridge in Seattle, Wa. So that's what it is.
