The new pedestrian bridge at Lake Merritt was barely open before folks started attaching Love Locks. Finally Oakland has something in common with Paris! Linked to ABC Wednesday.
I saw a huge fence of Love Locks in Hollywood several months ago but I had no idea - until just now - that they were "Love Locks."Tthank you for the sociological information.
Really! I am not a fan of these things. (Grinch!) They seem like an affectionate version of graffiti.
ReplyDeleteFun! Great photo, I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to go back in a month and then a year to document the growth.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! You know who started this and if city hall approves of it?
ReplyDeleteHow funny and sweet.
ReplyDeleteInteresting association of Lock with Love !
ReplyDeleteI am wondering when a bridge is going to collapse under the weight of so much love.
ReplyDeleteNice find. So far I have only seen photos of love locks. I think they are a good idea.
ReplyDeleteLocks on a Lake! Good find.
ReplyDeleteQuirky Oakland!

This padlock fad seems to have taken off!
ReplyDeleteI'm 'doing some love' today too.
ReplyDeleteVery colorful!

Interesting. I've never heard of doing that before. - Margy
ReplyDeleteI heard of that somewhere else, but I guess people like the idea. By the way, love your new header - is it a postcard?

ReplyDeleteAre those new? There was a growing group (including one my wife and I placed) that were cut away by the city.
ReplyDeleteOK this is a new one for me. Must check out where this started.

I've never seen this in the US. Since these locks represent romance, the initials on the red lock are quite ironic.
ReplyDeleteI saw these on a walkway bridge in Seattle, Wa. So that's what it is.
