I hope this shot represents some of the diversity of the waterfront. Taken on a walk near Jack London Square, you can see the marina and the cranes of the Port. Boating and commerce exemplify some of the variety of activities along the shoreline. For more "W" photos from around the world, click on
ABC Wednesday.
You appear to have skeletons of dinosaurs drinking at your waterfront. It all looks very busy with interesting angles as well.
ReplyDeleteHow industrial and therefore purposeful! The busy port areas scattered around the North east Coast here in UK are becoming scarcer by the day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking part in the Wednesday fun!

Albany's a port city, too, on the Hudson. same industrious, gritty look at the waterfront.

ReplyDeleteAre those origami birds in the background?
Did you know that containerized shipping was invented in Oakland? Matson initiated it. The original container crane was installed at the foot of 7th Street in 1958, and (if «Louis» is not mistaken) is still in operation.
I drove by the port area on Highway 880 over the weekend. I always enjoy the view.
ReplyDeleteThe cranes look bit unusual on the waterfront. Interesting combination of crafts.
ReplyDeleteWonderful contrast with the giant cranes and the boats!
ReplyDeleteWaterfronts are such fascinating places - your photo captures the allure.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you added sound, you could hear the planes taking off and landing at the OAK airport. The photo does capture the essence of the area. (loved Rinkly's comment about the dinosaurs)
ReplyDeleteWhat a blend of craft and activities. Very nicely shot.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
