ABC Wednesday: F is for the Fox Theater

The Fox Theater is a pastiche of styles that mostly look Moorish to my eye.  It was built in 1928, fell into decline in the 60s, and was restored and resurrected in 2009.  It also houses Jerry Brown's charter school, the School for Performing Arts.  Many popular acts now perform here and the Fox is part of the revival of the Uptown area.  For other "F" photos, visit ABC Wednedsay.

  1. Do you go to performing Art's a lot? Not too long ago, I went to My fair lady.

  4. Neat. We have a theater in Monterey (the Golden State on Alvarado) that was built in 1928, Moorish style also. Lot's of ornate exotic interior details.I think they may have been designed by the same architect.

  6. «Louis» is happy that the long-delayed restoration of the Fox was completed. Great shot, Carolyn. «Louis», like you, thinks the style is mostly Moorish.
