This vine is growing up the side of one of my favorite thrift shops in the Rockridge district. Because it faces onto a narrow alley, it's easy to miss. What amazes me is that it is composed of thousands of mosaic tiles. I can't begin to contemplate the number of work hours that went into creating this splashy design.
Yes, it is amazing - I thought it was paintwork at first. I suppose that what you call "thrift shops" are what we call "nearly new shops" - or do you mean charity shops? Glad you're enjoying a virtual revisit of York.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by and commenting on the blog. I appreciate it. The viburnum is Eastern Snowball. Not sure it would grow in California, but there are other varieties.
ReplyDeleteLove this photo -- I have done some mosaic work and I can't imagine how long this took. Great shot! Have a great week!
Beautiful work of art...
ReplyDeleteIt must have taken some careful plans to execute for it to turn out like this. Nice.
wow! That is truly amazing. I thought it was a painting at first as well. I wonder how they care for it.
ReplyDeleteOnly color would do for a shot like this one. I do like the bold forms of your composition, too easy to miss with all the color.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and nice comments.
This is an awesome amount of work, especially for a site that is little seen and appreciated. Oakland still amazes me for its wealth or colorful murals.
ReplyDeleteI like your angle choice here.
ReplyDeleteMosaics really are a special form of art. Nice one!
