artists live here

Driving around East Oakland I came upon this nifty building which had been retrofitted and then adorned with glass mosaics.  You could just tell that this is/was an artist studio.  No signs identified the tenants, but I heard bongos being played inside.  Below is a detail of one of the mosaics.  Found at 24th Street and 8th Avenue near Park Blvd.
Cool, no?

  2. What fine mosaics!
Carolyn, you are really finding some gems! «Louis» is always excited to see what unknown gem you've uncovered in Oakland.

  3. I cannot imagine the hours, no days, that it took to create that mosaic. The building front is art in itself.

  7. Beautifully done - a tribute, perhaps, to some of Oakland's beautiful old buildings? Your photos are beautiful and your dailyphoto is lovely! (Yes I remember "Cold Duck" - sweet, sort of.... 80's?)
