Clothing Town, a discount store at 34th Avenue and Foothill Blvd., added this mural to its wall in 2011. The mural was made by many community volunteers with the guidance of the Eastside Arts Alliance, previously featured here and here. The cultural and historic references in the mural no doubt educate some who view it.

ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting. I've stretched the definition of mural once again in m entry this week and have posted a "sculptural/architectural mural". :-)
It's bright and breezy and fun, and I am all for anything that educates in an entertaining way to as wide a group as possible- nice one!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff - my post this week is a follow up to Chrissy's from last week
ReplyDeletethese volunteers must have had some good teachers!

I am amazed by the amount of Chicano influence in this one. Gorgeous for a big wall like that.
ReplyDeleteThis one's quite elaborate. Colorful too.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that the community got involved and that their names are on the bottom of the wall. They should be proud.
ReplyDeleteI always forget it is Monday until I see your blog! What a fun mural you found for today!
ReplyDeletewhat a beauty!
ReplyDeleteGosh lots to take in there, looks great when pulled in even closer!
ReplyDeleteif you haven't already I'd love to see a book of your collection one day..great work!
ReplyDeleteThat is some mural.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that such a collective endeavor could result in a colossal mess, yet that has not happened. Here again, the mural, although a collage of images and stories, is quite cohesive! How smart that the business are getting into the mural swing.
ReplyDelete[I'm behind on just about everything this week. A death in the family has had me scrambling to find air tickets to Toronto right in the peak season, but now that is settled and we fly on Saturday.]
This Is Only About 1/3 of the Full Mural. Also This Mural Was Organized by Two of the Defendants on The Fruitvale Gang Injunctions in Response to the proposed Gang Injunctions in the Fruitvale.
