industrial West Oakland

West Oakland has a long industrial past that is now on the wane.  It looks like this factory is abandoned, but one can never be sure.  Much of the area is now filled with artist workshops and gentrified housing.  One can only hope for a resurgence of the area that still has wonderful Victorian era houses.  Last week's mural can be seen in the far distance.

  1. Beautiful grain silo with a kind of mixing station above. Through the lashes it seems a gatehouse for a bridge. Beautiful anonymous architecture. However, a challenge to make it useful for a different destination. Thanks for showing.

  2. Looks like an old Grain Silo that has seen better days. Shame really to see them go like that

  3. It would be difficult to recondition that for some new use, but it seems worthwhile to have a go at it. It stands out nicely against the sky.

  4. That could so be in the Midwest. Looks like grain elevators to me.
