This mural is on a large wall facing E. 8th Street in East Oakland. It looks like an ape uprising at the Golden Gate Bridge. The mural was signed with complex pieces (one seen on the right side) that I had no hope of reading. The foreshortening of the images contributes to a strong sense of movement and immediacy. If there is another level of meaning to the images, I'm in the dark.

There's a real sense of speed and threat in this piece.
ReplyDeleteInteresting subject, but I prefer the happier more colorful murals you find. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a fan... so I like this mural.
ReplyDeleteA strong and bold mural!
ReplyDeleteGreat mural, I know the Planet of the Apes film with the Statue of Liberty but don't know about one with GG Bridge!
ReplyDelete... and brandishing a spray can too, what's it all about ODP :)
ReplyDeletePlanet of the Apes it is. Powerful!
ReplyDeleteQuite a striking mural. Maybe it's about a sequel in SF they haven't shot yet :-)
ReplyDeleteMine is a "mystery" mural this week.
I haven't seen this new version of the movie. Maybe I need to check it out since your mural makes it look interesting.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's weird. I know the new versions of the movie have been set in that area.
ReplyDeleteGood find! Thanks for hosting us all again!
