Both passenger and freight trains run down the middle of 1st Street, at the bottom of Broadway, along side of Jack London Square. Even though they are a common sight, this is the first time I've seen a warning on a locomotive. Four other trains came by while I was down there, but this was the only one with a message. This may be in response to several accidents and suicides on tracks around the bay this year. It definitely made me want to take a step back. This is my first time linking to
Mellow Yellow Monday. Don't know about mellow, but it definitely qualifies for yellow.
A nice shot of the train... I kinda smiled with the note on the side, "Stay Away, Stay Alive".. A punchline.. yet it's true. =)

Warning on a locomotive. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteGood shot for MYM. Have a lovely day.
A wonderful idea to have a travelling sign like this on the huge locomotive! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThe warning would have come handy when I drove streetcars and subway in Toronto. Most of the time you can't warn stupid people... you can only pity them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color and the warning is so clear. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteMellow Yellow Monday
First time I see this message on a train too. Cool find!
ReplyDeleteha ha! yes, definitely not mellow as she screams by. i love trains and i try and get every opportunity to photograph them or write about them whenever i can. thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the MYM meme! Not only do I love trains, but the yellow color and the messages on this one rocks!
ReplyDeleteStay away, stay alive.. makes sense..
ReplyDeleteBanker's Desk Lamp
Sometimes that's what it takes to get a message across.
ReplyDeleteNever seen anything like this around here and we have plenty of railroad lines. Maybe it's an Amtrak deal.
ReplyDeletePowerful statement (and photo!). Odd there seems to be a rash of train track fatalities. Sometimes an unusually high number of people drive off the Bixby Bridge in Big Sur. Makes me sad.
