The 21-story Tribune Tower has been a local landmark since 1923. It's now dwarfed by more recent buildings. The Tribune newspaper moved to new headquarters in East Oakland after the 1989 earthquake. The new owners retrofitted the building, spruced up the clock face, and are renting office space. Caught this reflection after a recent rain. For other Weekend Reflections, click here.
That is a really cool reflection. I remember both the Tribune Tower and the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. I was living in San Leandro and I just got home from work at Oaknoll Naval Hospital when the quake hit.
ReplyDeleteReally marvellous image. So great that the tower was preserved. My Jr. High in Highland Park (Northeast LA) was demolished after the post-1971 earthquake codes were updated. And it was such a great brick building.
ReplyDeleteExcellent capture, Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn - here's an Art Deco building in Paris.
ReplyDelete;-)
Nice capt - must get into these special days. And merci Louis for the lien.
ReplyDeleteBonjour, encore, Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteRe your comment that "Redwood" gets on the road more than «Louis», c'est vrai, but «Louis» has a series coming up with views from the slopes of Mount Diablo and a drive down Highway 1 to the Monterey Peninsula. ;-)
What a lovely shot. You've framed it so beautiful. Love the soft colours.
ReplyDeleteThis is really a great reflection!
ReplyDeleteWish you a great day!
